Eighteen of the last nineteen years have been the hottest on record and when coupled with the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme heat events, it is not surprising that illnesses and deaths associated with increased temperatures are also on the rise. While we continue to anticipate exactly what OSHA’s final Heat Injury standard will look like, we know the core principles used to combat heat-related illnesses haven’t changed: water, rest, and shade. In this session we will look at the different types of heat-related illnesses, discuss ways to help prevent them and take a look at the ways you can prepare for the new requirements in OSHA’s proposed standard.
